Upper North Wark Salmon Fishing On The River Tweed - Tay Salmon Fly

Upper North Wark is an excellent Lower Tweed beat with nearly one mile of prime Tweed water situated on the world famed stretch of the river between Coldstream and Kelso.
Given our location on the Lower Tweed, we have the potential to fish well throughout the season. The beat fishes particularly well in mid to higher water.  The beat contains the famous Snipe rock pool, which is reputed to be one of the best on the Tweed in a higher water.
Under new ownership, the beat now has 2 full time ghillies all year round - Martin Ritchie and Richard Farr.  They are long standing Tweed boatmen and will enhance your enjoyment of the day. The beat has two wooden Tweed boats available for our guests on a daily basis. The beat is generally fished from the boats unless lower water conditions make wading possible. Alternatively, the boats can be used as platforms from which to fish. Basically we can cater for whatever medium of fishing you prefer!!
We have a variety of water over our 4 named pools - Snipe, Mill Stream, Back Of The Isle and Wark Dub. In recent years, we have opened up more of the Mill Stream and increased access to parts of the beat not previously fished and we have noticed an increase in the catches in these new areas.
When fishing in higher water we tend to use sinking lines with assorted poly leaders to cover the variations in the pools. If you require any advice or help please don't hesitate to contact our Head Ghillie in advance of your visit who will be delighted to give you the benefit of his thoughts on the best equipment for the conditions.
The beat is happy to cater for fishers of all abilities. Coaching is available for beginners or perhaps to help the more “experienced fisherman “cast those extra few yards!!  We are always happy to help.
The beat has ample off road parking and a well-appointed fishers' hut with heating, cooking and toilet facilities. The hut is situated at the centre of the beat and all pools are easily accessed.
Please meet the Ghillie at 9am at the main hut. To reach the beat from Kelso, pass through Birgham and the beat is a mile to the south on the road to Coldstream.
During 2019 we are hoping to receive planning approval for our new fishing hut which will improve the facilities on the beat to an exceptional level.
