Fly Tying Hints And Tips - Doubling A Hackle - Tay Salmon Fly
I had a request for some images on how to double a hackle.
1:- Tie in your hackle tip first, then trim the tip of the feather with your scissors.
2:- Fold the feather back over itself, catch in with a turn or 2 of thread.
3:- Wynd the hackle around until its pointing towards you.
4:- Hold the feather firmly at the base and stroke the feathers all in the one direction backwards.
5:- Wynd on the hackle as normal, catch in with a few turns of thread, then cut of the rest of the feather.
6:- Tidy up the odd loose bit of feather with the thread.
