River Tweed River Report Week Ending 3rd July
Well
normal summer fishing it would appear to be this year with the river feeling
very empty and not many fish about. The return of the brighter weather last
week didn’t help but with not any decent numbers of fish in the river it made
for very hard fishing last week. Slight plus last week was an increase on the
number of Sea Trout caught as the had been very lacking this year so far,
however a total of 33 Salmon reported from the whole river it was a long week
of effort for no reward. Thundery showers about over the weekend gave a slight
lift but with the weather coming in from the east it hasn’t made a huge difference
to the water levels. The first reported Pink Salmon was caught on Waltham and
Dritness last week, will be interesting to see if many more are caught as there
is an expected run of them this year. Weathers a bit more over cast with more
thundery showers this week so it might help the catches a bit. It would appear
there are a lot of grilse being caught up North so hopefully they are working
their way down the coast fingers crossed.
Above Kelso 8 fish were reported, Between Kelso and
Coldstream 8 were reported and below Coldstream 15 were reported. With the best
fishing being on the Lower Floors and Tillmouth beat’s where 10 salmon were
landed.
33 Salmon and 21 Sea Trout were landed for the week with the best fish 15lb Salmon
caught on the Tillmouth and Milne Graden beats.
