How Do I / How To Tie A Cascader Salmon Fly - Tay Salmon Fly

Materials Required - Orange Bucktail, Yellow Bucktail, Pearly Krystal Flash, Black Krystal Flash, Silver Oval Tinsel, Silver Holographic Tinsel, Black Straggle, Black Fox, Yellow Hackle, Orange Hackle, Black Thread and Jungle Cock.

Using the black thread bring it down the body and tie in a tag using the silver oval tinsel. Don't cut off.

 Mix Orange and Yellow Bucktail together and tie in as a tail.

 Add 3 strands of pearl krystal flash

 Using the silver holographic tinsel cover the rear of the body.

 For the front body use the black straggle.

 Bring the silver oval tinsel up over the body to create the rib.

 Tie in a bunch of black fox as a wing. ( You can use squirrel)

 Add 3 strands of black krystal flash to the wing.

 Tie in a yellow hackle.

 Tie in an orange hackle.

 Add Jungle Cock top and bottom, then finishs of the head and varnish.

The Cascader Salmon Fly is a very good variation of the already very popular Cascade. The Cascader has a fritz body which increases the flies profile in the water and will no doubt create a bit of disturbance when it swings across the taken salmon in the pool

Here a nice salmon landed on the Dunkeld House beat of the River Tay. This salmon was caught by Mr Simon Furniss who runs the fishing on the beat on one of our Cascader Salmon Flies that we tied especially for him.

Description

Dunkeld House Fishings is one of the most scenic beats on the Middle Tay. Situated immediately above Dunkeld's Old Tay Bridge, the beat boasts 14 named pools, with fishing available on both banks.
Water conditions permitting, two boats and 2 ghillies work the beat, offering every type of Salmon Fishing for our guests' enjoyment. Our beat is attached to Hilton Hotel's Scottish flagship hotel, Hilton Dunkeld House, from where a short stroll in the morning leads to our fishing hut.
We can offer tuition for the novice and informative advice on flies/lures/lines etc for more experienced anglers.
We can accommodate up to eight anglers daily on the beat, with up to two rods in each boat (harling, spinning or bait fishing). For safety reasons we feel that only one person can fly-fish from the boat at a time. The use of both banks allows the angler access to uncongested water even in lower water conditions.

IMPORTANT: We let two types of tickets on this beat:
BANK - Fishing is fom the bank only with no ghillie supplied unless you elect to pay for one separately.
BOAT - Fishing has to be booked for two people fishing in the same boat. If only one person wants to fish, he still has to pay for both rods to cover the cost of the ghillie and boat provided. For safety resaons we do not recommend that more than one person fly fishes from the boat at the same time.
