River Tweed River Report Week Ending 25th November 2018 - Tay Salmon Fly

River Tweed River Report Week Ending 25th November

Well….not a huge amount to write this week, Rising water Monday through to Thursday peaking at 8ft on Thursday, ruined the whole weeks fishing with coloured water. Some keen souls did fish in the dirty water with not much success. The season comes to a close on Thursday and it will be one that will be remembered for a reasonable spring and some good sport had over the summer months, then the autumn run just never happened.

Spring availability in now be listed on Fishtweed and via beat agents so get planning for the 2018 season

20 Salmon and 8 Sea Trout, with the best fish for the week was 20lb Salmon caught on the Nest Beat.

On Upper North Wark, Pretty much a wash out all week with dirty water.

Lees Head Boatman Mr Malcolm Campbell reports “0 for the week, 1 pull one Tuesday, very few showing and in fact today (Saturday) I didn't see so much as a scale all day

The week ended with the level at Sprouston 2ft 3” and the water temperature is 40.

The forecast this coming week looks quite settle with frosty cold weather.

As always I would like to thank all those who provide me with the information to make this report, it is very much appreciated. If you have information and photo’s you would like included please get in touch with Martin on 07825334427 or info@taysalmonfly.co.uk

Water temperatures are starting to cool down dressed flies in sizes 8 or 10, if you prefer tubes over dressed flies ½”” and ¾”” should be about right. Copper Cascade, Tritton Shrimp, Newtyle Shrimp, Ghillie, Pot Belly Pig, Snaelda, Red Frances & Junction Shrimp should bring success. As always come prepared and always listen to the advice of your boatman or ghillie. If you’re needing to top up your fly box ahead of your trip please check out www.taysalmonfly.co.uk
