Tay Flamethrower

Here is my Deadly Tay Flamethrower. This fly is taking 2011 by storm and has now accounted for salmon on all 4 of Scotlands big 4 rivers, and has a trip to Russia coming up in a few weeks so watch this space. Pictued Below is a Spey Springer caught by Mr Brain Shaw, on the Tay Flamethrower last month. The following day it accounted for another springer from the same pool. Feeler Fly


My tying of the cover fly from this months trout and salmon magazine.
the feeler fly concept developed by Ron Sutherland of the helmsdale tackle company has proven to be deadly this spring.

Fiddlers Fancy Salmon fly


The Fiddlers Fancy Named after the Fiddlers pool of the Newtyle beat of the River Tay.
This pattern is going to be a big hit this season.
Tied with the Flamethrower Profile, and a great combination of colours including a wee bit of purple, and that shiny silver head to catch the salmons eye.

Dee Flamethrower Mini Templedog Salmon fly



Here is my Dee Flamethrower Mini Templedog. Shown above with 10mm aluminium tube with turbo disc and also on 15mm brass bottle tubes. This fly is also available dressed on larger tubes or double/single hooks. The standard dee flamethrower hairwing is also available from the blog.

Chartreuse Special Salmon Fly

Another great spring salmon fly available from the salmon fly blog.
My chartreuse special is a great fly for spring fishing or for fishing a clearing river after a spate.
This fly encorporates Pearly flash in the lower wing, and magenta peacock herl over the top wing to really make the fly glow in the water.

Posh Tosh Salmon fly


The posh tosh salmon fly is a firm favourite in the spring, but catches fish all through the season.
The UV properties in the body of this fly make it really shine and stand out in the water.

Editor salmon fly Tube



This is my tying of the Editor fly tube style. This fly uses a pearl body with a glow in the dark thread layed underneath. It then has a Fluo yellow/green rib and fluo yellow jungle cock cheeks.

This is my Long green highlander tube fly. It is tied on a 2inch aluminium slipstream tube and has an overall wing length of 4 1/2 inches. A perfect tube for early spring fishing in the UK or for that trip of a lifetime to Norway or the Kola.
